thanks much . I did all that already, my iMac is 2013. When I had gone to that Mojave link, it is for Mojave 10.4.6, not 10.14 and apparently before going from 10.13.6 to 10.14.6, I need first to upgrade to 10.14. I still checked the Mojave link in app store and only the"Open" button appears (I think that is normal I can t go directly from 10.13.6 to 10.14.6,) and I get this window, see attached png. I read in many places that it is the case to have to upgrade first to 10.14 before 10.14.6 but there is no indication anywhere where to get Mojave 10.14. My App store window does not show a mojave upgrade option. Thank you

With previous versions of macOS I used the createinstallmedia command without any problems. However, this time I can't use this because when I download the installer from the Mac App Store on another Mac I only get a file that is 22 MBs in size.
Did you go to download macOS Mojave but found an incomplete installer application arrived in your /Applications folder? Some Mac users have discovered that when trying to download macOS Mojave from the Mac App Store, they end up with a very small 22 MB mini-installer that is not the full size 6 GB macOS Mojave installer app.
I was able to download the app from the app store and followed the second set of directions. It did in fact create the 6.03GB app in the apps folder. But, the icon for the app shows a large overlay with a diagonal bar through it. Why?
I've even created and updated my Mojave USB installer several times in the past couple months. I did always download it from a 2018 MacBook Pro or Air, already running Mojave.Maybe that makes a difference, dunno why really.
This does not work properly, even if you created a bootable installer, it will always connect to apples servers to download the latest version of mojave. so, eventually its not a full installer. Just a bootable drive. Test it by booting from USB and then turn off internet while trying to install Mojave Any idea how to stop that?
Interesting. I had an issue with downloading the full installer which then would not boot a new macbook pro say that my system was newer than the installer, even though running High Sierra. I had downloaded the mojave installer on a macmini. As I always keep a usb with the full installer for all our macs this might solve my issue- though of course just doing the download on the newest mac is prob the easiest solution.
If the macOS that you want isn't compatible with your Mac or the currently installed macOS, the installer will let you know, and the App Store might prevent you from downloading it. For example, it might dim the Get button, say that the macOS is not compatible with this device, or say that the requested version of macOS is not available.
At the very least, we recommend downloading the Mojave installer. That will likely come in handy for a variety of people, from users reliant on 32-bit apps to users of older Macs who want to update but avoid macOS Catalina.
However, when Apple introduced Mojave the Mac App Store changed, and these installers can no longer be searched for or found in the purchased section of the store. (Although we do have redirect links in the section above to each of the relevant pages on the Mac App Store.)
After clicking Open I am presented with this message above. As you can see the App Store first searched my system and found that I already have macOS Mojave installer.app. Notice that it searches all locations, not just the Applications folder where the installer app normally is stored. It found the macOS Mojave Installer.app in a folder called test.
We are off to the races now! The first thing you will notice is that instead of downloading macOS Mojave Installer inside the App Store it opens Software Update. Software Update will search for the Installer and ask if you are sure you want to download the 6gb Mojave Installer. After clicking download you will get a new prompt for admin credentials to start the download (not to actually install yet). After the download completes you will finally have the latest macOS installer.app.
I showed you how to download the macOS installer through the Mojave Mac App store. The thing is, a better way to download the full installer exists and is called installinstallmacos.py. I was going to explain how to use installinstallmacos.py here but now realize the topic deserves a full article. I did not even get into hardware specific (Forked) builds. As you can see we have a lot to go over, so stay tuned. I will put the link here when complete.
High Sierra is no more available in Mojave App Store. You need to update the article. Also you can confirm if that is the case? Is there another possible method to download High Sierra installer? Thanks
Many clients reported "the recovery server could not be contacted Catalina" error when they attempted to install a macOS update with the update installer from App Store. But after downloading the complete version of the macOS installer, the installer ran without any error. The method below will help you get the full update/version of the macOS Catalina:
Installing macOS without internet requires a bootable USB disk. And you need to download a full-size macOS installer for making this disk. Hence, before anything, we will tell you how to download macOS offline installer directly from Apple to your Mac using a GitHub script.
As said earlier, you could use the macOS USB installer to do a clean install or restore it upon a boot failure. Just connect the USB disk and press the Option/Alt Key when you hear the boot sound. The Mac will then display all the startup disks available.
Last year, Armin Briegel who maintains Scripting OS X, provided a script for not only reliably acquiring the latest Big Sur installer but also downloading it in PKG format ready to deploy into the Applications folder.
This will help us identify Macs that have the Monterey installer app already in the Applications folder to prevent Jamf Pro from downloading it again. Be sure to get the current version of the installer app by selecting it and choosing File > Get Info. 2ff7e9595c
